Additive Manufacturing Engineer (WAAM)

We are looking for a passionate WAAM Engineer (IWE/IWT) who enjoys both hands-on printing and deep diving into standards and production plans. At MX3D, you will be part of a dynamic, international team working at the forefront of robotic metal 3D printing. From creating innovative geometries to validating materials and complying with ISO, API and ASME standards, you’ll help shape the future of large-scale metal additive manufacturing.

What You’ll Do

– Define welding and deposit parameters based on customer needs and applicable standards
– Evaluate incoming customer request on qualification requirements and printability
– Generate toolpaths using our proprietary MetalXL software
– Monitor and evaluate ongoing prints
– Document and report on each project phase
– Coordinate with material testing partners to evaluate mechanical properties
– Share user insights with our development team to improve our technology
– Help translate standardization (e.g. ISO/ASME) into practice in our WAAM workflows

What You Bring

– A relevant degree in mechanical engineering
– Proven experience in welding (IWE/IWT certified or equivalent)
– At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
– Willingness to operate WAAM equipment and optimize real prints
– Solid understanding of standards and quality systems in manufacturing
– Pragmatic mindset with a hands-on attitude
– Strong communication skills, team spirit, and customer focus
– EU citizenship or valid Dutch work permit

Nice to Have

– Experience with CAD / Rhinoceros / Grasshopper
– WAAM or DED Experience (BIG PLUS)
– Familiarity with CAM and robotic systems
– Previous involvement with ISO / ASME standards for welding or additive manufacturing
– Interest in research, validation, and certification efforts
